L7 - TIME

The word sâ-at (ساعت) in Persian has several meanings.  It can mean Hour or a segment of time. It can also mean Watch (instrument to measure time) 


What is the time: sâ-at chand ast?  ( ساعت چند است ؟)
Or
What is the time: che sâ-atist? (چه ساعتی است ؟)




1 o'clock: sâ-at-e yek (hour 1)

How do you say the time from 1am - 12 noon?

Now practise saying the time and indicating what time of day it is. Use the existing audio provided as a model


4 in the morning - sâ-at-e chahâr-e sobh


7 in the morning -
6 in the morning -
3 in the morning -
6 in the evening - sâ-at-e shish-e shab


8 in the evening -
10 in the evening -
9 in the evening -
4 in the afternoon - sâ-at-e chahâr-e bad-az zohr


2 in the afternoon -
5 in the afternoon -
12 midday - sâ-at-e davâzdahe zohr

Answer the following in Farsi:
- What time do your meetings start?
- What time do you leave for work?

How do you say the following?
- 1 o'clock in the morning
- 3 o'clock in the afternoon
- 12 midday
- 9 o'clock in the evening
- 6 o'clock in the morning
- 8 o'clock in the evening
- 10 o'clock in the evening
- 2 o'clock in the afternoon
- 4 o'clock in the afternoon
